Birthday Trip To Ventura

Every year, for the past 3 years, my sister and I have spent a long weekend in Ventura to celebrate our summer birthdays.   We love it there.  It is a beach town, for those of you not lucky enough to be in California.  This means it is a foggy cool 55 degrees there today instead of the 109 degrees it is here in Lancaster.
Above you will find the Famous Ventura Sea Turtle which someone has desecrated by putting a cigarette in it's mouth.  My sister, the spaz, seems to find this hysterical and has to get a picture every time!
This was a special year because we saved some money we got from our grandmother who passed away in February and decided to use it on this trip.  So we stayed at the Marriott which is a little nicer than our usual weekend hotel.  It was lovely.  And we decided that this trip would have us doing some things that we normally did not do which I will explain as we go along.
As I said the hotel was nice and we had the most wonderful pillows!  The only complaint we had about the room--- and this was a BIG ONE--- was that when we arrived there was almost no toilet paper.

It was appalling.

Luckily there were many unaccompanied maid carts and we were able to score extra rolls.
It almost ruined our whole stay.

But we recovered......  Stay tuned for further adventures!
