Parker's Birthday Party

It might be possible that I went just a teeny tiny bit overboard with Parker's first birthday party.  Maybe.
But I had SO MUCH FUN!
I feel like I have my own personal Pinterest thing going on here so first I am going to explain my his theme and how I prepared the food.  My HIS theme was Sesame Street because that kid LOVES Sesame Street.  Personally I have learned a lot too.  I can count up to 40 now!  And I know the words to Abby's Flying Fairy School theme song!
So instead of a cake I made cupcakes.  Here you see Elmo, Cookie Monster, Oscar the Grouch and Big Bird.  I am not completely satisfied with the eye ball to face ratio but there you go.  Big Bird had a beak made from a marshmellow.

Here is the food table.  We had a chocolate fountain with all the accoutrement as well as pinwheel sandwiches.

The veggies for dip were displayed as Oscar the Grouch (Broccoli, olives, peppers and brown lettuce) and Murray (Carrots, olives, peppers)

The fruit for the Chocolate fountain were displayed as Big Bird (Pound cake, lemon cake and mango) and Elmo (Strawberries and blueberries)

Fans of Elmo know that he has a pet Goldfish named Dorothy so as a nod to Elmo's fish I cut all different kinds of cheese into little fish shapes and there was a gold fish bowl of goldfish crackers and assortment of other crackers to go with.

Okay enough about the party... about the Birthday Boy!
Our baby turned the Big ONE.  He had a lot of fun showing off his new walking skills to family who hadn't seen yet.  He thoroughly enjoyed his own little cake (they call them Smash Cakes)

And here is Nah Nah and her Boy!
I am a very blessed Grandma!

That is so creative! I've always wanted to be artistic, but I just don't see things like you - making big bird out of pound cake?
