Stream of Consciousness Blog

Hop aboard.....the stream of consciousness train is leaving the station...

'Consciousness' is a really hard word to spell. It doesn't look right even when it is right. I had to look it up. I wonder "was it really worth all that trouble?"

I took my daughter and older niece to the Museum of Tolerance the other day. I got lost going through Los Angeles, of course. My blackberry has this great google map thing that tells me where the heck I am and how to get to where I meant to go. It was cool. The museum had one small section on general tolerance but the greater portion was dedicated to the Holocaust. Sobering. Sad. We also got to sit in on a talk given by a survivor. Amazing human spirit. I wonder if I could get through something even remotely similar. I doubt it. I was reminded of how truly blessed I am to live in America even with all it's faults. Something that clearly has haunted this man was that the world virtually ignored what was going on in Europe and allowed these atrocities to happen unhampered. I wonder what would happen today if this was going on I wonder if it isn't going on even now and we are similarly concerned in sustaining our physical or emotional or religious borders.
Yeah.....
Summer is here and it is hot. And my hair is frizzy. I don't like the heat nor my hair. Both seem to be unchangeable.
I need to figure out what to do about school. I need to register for the fall semester. Getting through my Spanish class was painful. What to do? Can someone shake up their Magic 8 Ball and tell me what the answer is? Will work slow down? Will it remain the same? Will my brain fog clear up so I can think clearly again?
Someone I know has a new boyfriend and all I can think of is how scary that is. That is just sad. I wasn't gracious when I found out and now I feel stupid and rude and shallow. But do I let it go or apologize?
The new Twlight movie came out last night. I haven't seen it yet. I am so Team Jacob and that is just a little sad too. I wonder what it is like to be that guys mom. How do you make your kid take out the trash when there are a million teenagers who think he is the most awesome piece of eye candy in the world. Course this is coming from someone who can't get her own kid to take out the trash so maybe it doesn't make a difference.
I also constantly wonder what happens with Bella has a visit from the Menstrual Fairy
In a few minutes I am going to pick up my sister from work and we are going to go to dinner. Her girls are going up to Utah tomorrow. That makes me sad. I am craving a salad. I wonder why there are so few salad bars these days-- used to be that every restaurant had a salad bar. WHERE HAVE ALL THE SALAD BARS GONE???
I need to leave now.
Don't be sad, okay?

Is It Vintage Or Just..............

Congratulations to my office mate Claudia who won an ebay bid for an oil lamp very similar to this one.
Jealousy doesn't even begin to describe the feeling welling up inside me.
I remember my Uncle Junior and his first wife Marie had one of these. They also had a brass cupid that dispensed booze out of his.... well you know........
Ah memories....
Thank you, Claudia, for this trip down memory lane...........

Ennui

en·nui
Pronunciation: \ˌän-ˈwē\
Function: noun
Etymology: French, from Old French enui annoyance, from enuier to vex, from Late Latin inodiare to make loathsome — more at annoy
Date: 1732

The original French word Ennui means general lack of interest, boredom or depression. It may also refer to oppressive boredom. It refers to a state of being rather than a passing mood as is generally the case with "boredom."

Hiya Geeezers~
Notice anything different?
My good friend JC strongly suggested that I update my blog.
I thought... my life is in a boring rut (ennui) so I maybe I will do just that.
So, I have been playing around with it.

What do you think??

Otherwise in LeAnn world.....
Working a LOT. Took a couple day long trip to our jobsite on Camp Pendleton. Was able to meet some people with whom I have an extensive online and telephone relationship so that was great. Did a lot of subtle looking-- not touching-- at finely scuplted Marines. (ennui) Oh yeah. Sat on the beach and watched the sunset.... further ingraining in my mind that if I ever retire it must be in a oceanside condo.
Family: My mom just got back out of the hospital. She is frail and I am saddened. (ennui) My sister is doing fine and about another 3 weeks away from getting her driver's license back. Kids are good.
Furgang is feisty.

Need to shake off this

ENNUI
And so I shall

Guest Blogger

Hello Humans:

It is I, Oliver Thomas O'Malley Cat

I notice that my staff seems to be suffering from an overload of
stress. They work far too much and relax far too little. This seems to be a problem with many humans. Therefore I am guest blogging today to help you with some helpful hints.

Work: You work too much. Quit your job. We cats do not have
jobs and we get along just fine

Meals: Eat 25-30 small meals every day

Hunting: stalking prey is a great way to relieve stress. Prey includes birds, homework, human toes, computer mice etc. Not actual mice however, allow them to live unabated in your house.

Yoga: Yoga is a get way to bring
peace and harmony into your life.
Let me demonstrate:

Find a new rug and begin with some warm up stretches. It is good to have a workout companion, though sometimes they do not show the same committment.
Do not allow them to distract you. Do not let them talk into starting tomorrow instead and going out to Starbucks for a frappacino. Even a light one.

Since it is your first time, do something easy.

lick your back.

Press further, further, further!!!!!

You are doing great!!

Now, place your leg over your head.

And finish off by taking a nap with a friend.

GREAT JOB!!!!

Catching Up

Hiya Geeeezers!
Long time, no blog. I know.
Life has been..... well, hard. Weariness has taken it's toll on my sense of humor. This is bad. I must overcome. I must persevere. I must rise above it all and look for the funny, the warped, the witty, the inspiring. I must take pictures of things that make me think "HUH?" I must take more moments to enjoy my day. To slooooow down and smell.
It is amazing that it is June already. Spring flashed by. My mom has been in and out of the hospital several times. She is fragile and this is scary. Nothing prepares you for this stage of life. It is confusing and sad and forces you to ask really grown up questions. I don't like it.
My sister had another seizure in May while my mom was in the hospital the last time. This was something we had hoped would never happen again. This time the doc says she is epileptic. This time I was there. I don't like to think about it. I had to act like a grown up that night too. I don't like it. But she is on meds now and adjusting and we pray it will never happen again. Meanwhile we try to shout it down and joke about it as best we can. They did a sleep study on her and discovered she has sleep apnea that probably contributes to the seizures since both times she was asleep when it happened. So they gave her a C-Pap machine. She is trying to adjust to this too. So far She doesn't like it. I tried to show her that you can use it as a jump rope and did a great impression of an elephant with a really long trunk. She isn't able to use it all night yet but she is trying. Our cat Oliver Thomas O'Malley Cat is doing great on it though. His snoring is WAY down
I lost my glasses and guess where we found them. Yep--- on Oliver Thomas O'Malley Cat. He really is running amok. He really only needs them for reading (he is mostly through the Twilight series) but he likes the bifocals. He broke them two nights later. I just finally got new ones. I am trying to keep them away from the cat. Remind me to tell you about the appointment sometime. The doc was a trip.
There are two new kittens in the house. We don't know where they came from. I will post pics soon. My digital camera broke so I am behind in downloading.
I will try to catch up. I know you have all been neglected. I apologize. I will try to do better!
